چکیده

Abstract To prevent virus spreading, the corpse or coffin of COVID-19 patients need to be wrapped in plastic. Low-density polyethylene (LDPE), a crude oil-based wrapping plastic, is difficult decompose nature after use. In this study, biocomposite film was developed from cassava starch and chitosan, with addition sorghum Micro-Fibrillated Cellulose (MFC) by levels 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% 5%. Cassava (raw starch) modified acetic anhydride produce acetylated (acetylated which less hydrophilic thus enhance compounding ability LDPE. The MFC obtained fibers following processes: soda pulping, bleaching fibrillation super grinder. 1% into raw starch-chitosan increased tensile strength modulus elasticity 33% 17%, respectively. On other hand, 2% elongation 38%. Wrapping needs have good so that it can stretched during application. Based on characteristic, candidate for outspread.

Enhancing Properties of Polyvinyl Alcohol Film using Sorghum Starch Nanocrystals

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanocomposite films with sorghum starch nanocrystals (SSN) were prepared by incorporating various concentrations of SSN in PVA. SSN was isolated using acid hydrolysis of sorghum starch. The morphological studies of SSN using atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed that the particle size varied from 65 nm to 68 nm. The mechanical properties of PVA-SSN nanocomposite films i...

Graphene oxide-reinforced biodegradable genipin-cross-linked chitosan fluorescent biocomposite film and its cytocompatibility

A genipin-cross-linked chitosan/graphene oxide (GCS/GO) composite film was prepared using a solution casting method. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy of the composite films showed that the interactions between the CS and oxygen-containing groups of GO resulted in good dispersion of the GO sheets in the CS network. The addition of GO decreased the e...

Preparation and characterization of biocomposite film based on chitosan and kombucha tea as active food packaging.

An active film composed of chitosan and kombucha tea (KT) was successfully prepared using the solvent casting technique. The effect of incorporation of KT at the levels 1%-3% w/w on the physical and functional properties of chitosan film was investigated. The antimicrobial activity of chitosan/KT film against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus was evaluated using agar diffusion test, an...

COVID-19: a hypothesis to prevent SARS-CoV-2 from entering respiratory cells

Coronaviruses (CoVs) are a group of viruses that induce infection in the respiratory and other systems in the human body. There are two coronaviruses that transmitted from animals to humans including severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) (1). The novel coronavirus that appeared at first in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 was named as severe acut...

Characterization of a new biodegradable edible film based on Sago Starch loaded with Carboxymethyl Cellulose nanoparticles

Objective(s): Biodegradable film is widely used because it is free from synthetic substances and does not lead to environment pollution. This study aimed to prepare and characterize biodegradable sago starch films loaded with Carboxymethyl Cellulose nanoparticles. Methods: Sago starch films were prepared and plasticized with sorbitol/ glycerol by t...
